Need PC Expert's help:
Build list:
CPU: AMD - Ryzen 3 1200 3.1 GHz Quad-Core Processor
GPU: Nvidia GTX 770
Motherboard: ASRock - AB350M Pro4 Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard
Memory: Crucial - Ballistix Sport LT 8 GB (1 x 8 GB) DDR4-2400 Memory
storage: Seagate - FireCuda 1 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Hybrid Internal Hard Drive
Case/PSU: Thermaltake - VO545A1N2U ATX Mid Tower Case w/450 W Power Supply
Windows 10
Windows and GPU were updated as of December, not sure about right now.
This is my buddies computer (that I did not build). He has had this rig for about a year and has hardly touched it, due to the fact that it crashes constantly. By crashing I mean, whatever it is you are doing the screen freezes right where its at and you must turn off the PC and turn it back on. It does not go to a blue screen or any crash menu. It simply freezes right where it is. The PC is still running when it freezes (fans, lights etc).
It only has one stick of ram so we were unable to unplug one stick to see if it was bad.
Doing a Power Supply calculator i figured about ~444W under 100% load and it is a 450W power supply.
Prime 95 was ran for ~2-3hours for memory and CPU stress testing. Never crashed during test.
FurMark was ran for a GPU stress test. Crashed within ~2 minutes. (when test was started the fans audibly got quieter leading to believe that it was drawing power in order to power the GPU)
We had an old (~12-15 yr old) power supply laying around the house that we put in it, as we believed it was the power supply that was the limiting factor. I do not have the PC at my house, therefore forget what it was, but its a gold series 550W trio with 3 rails.
We reran FurMark, it did not crash this time, and no audible power draw from the fans were noticed. We let it run for about ~30 mins no issues (with the case panels on). So we figured it was good to go.
-Take the computer back to my buddies house. Plug it in where it will be used, run FurMark just to make sure its fine. FurMark runs for about ~20-30min. No crashing, so I end the stress test. The second I end the stress test it freezes??
CPU Temps seemed fine ( i forget what they were but according to what you guys say online it was nothing abnormal at all)
GPU Temps fine -77degrees C MAX temp
All fans running and working.
Asked some computer buddies of mine, possibly a bigger and new power supply is required (~650W?)
Hoping you guys can help.
Thanks a lot!
P.S. was not sure what category. If any more info is required please let me know!
