So I have two problems that are perhaps related:

1. My desktop behaves strangely, and I have to imagine the problem is not confined to the desktop. I just installed FRAPs and was taking screenshots/videos and autoplacing them on the desktop, great. The icon appears on the desktop and I can look at it and see that the file icon for the screenshot/video is there. Then when I click on it to open it it tries to open it and it vanishes never to be seen again! The process is repeatable. I have all the latest drivers and such.

2. NordVPN and Kaespersky Secure Connection both constantly crash when I try to use them. They will connect for a few seconds and then stop working and similarly the window they are in will just vanish into thin air. It is super frustrating.

Both of these problems have the theme of stuff literary just stopping working and then shortly after the window vanishing and seem to maybe be compatibility problem related.

Antivirus:
Kaespersky Total Security

Specs:
Intel Core i74720HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz
Geforce GTX 950M
8 GB Ram
1920x1080 60Hz
Asus Laptop

Solution

I wanted to record a screenshot of a WebM

Anyways no this problem has been ongoing for a while now but sometimes it is better then others. Sometimes rebooting makes it better for a bit on certain programs but on others (the VPN's) the problem is very repetitive. The FRAPs thing I just installed yesterday but the vanishing windows were happening before that. Now Kaespersky Total Security window insta vanishes when I try to open it too. It just sucks because I don't even have a clue how to fix something like this.

that's extremely difficult to Troubleshoot over a forum, but if it's making your antivirus window disappear that sounds like something a virus would do. have that happen many times before.

somebody will probably chime in and have a better idea than me, but there are possibly too many things i can think of that may be wrong. especially if you ever used....untrusthworthy sources to get your program

i'd be reinstalling windows and using bitdefender personally instead of trying all day to troublshoot this problem.

that's a last resort....but that really sounds like virus behavior.

Honestly I don't know where to start for a couple of reasons. For one this computer was upgraded to 10 and then back downgraded because the USB ports driver software was incompatible with all versions of ten (was trying to fix problems above). Second this computer was cleaned by a company called ERS because I had smoke damage from a fire at my old apartment. Thus it is possible they damaged it by cleaning it or perhaps it was damaged in transit or something. I just was posting here because I was wondering if it was some type of known issue or something.

On second thought it does sound like Virus behavior though and I was in a hotel for a long time. Maybe that is it.

glad you mentioned that

Clean REINSTALL lol
