Odd sound slow down and crackling distortion.

So a while ago I bought a sound card. It's a Creative Soundblaster Audigy SE. The card itself seems to work perfectly my sound is great but randomly my sound will start slowing down whenever I do something like change tabs in my browser or scroll around in Steam. The tempo goes way down and it sounds awful. The only solution is to restart my PC. Switching over to onboard audio does not fix the problem. I'm using the latest drivers that are meant for Windows 7. Lately the distortion has been popping up more frequently and I'm getting very tired of it. I haven't found a solution at all in weeks of research. If anyone could help I would greatly appreciate it.

I have found a solution although I'm not sure it will help many people because my issue seems pretty unique. I had to discover the solution myself. I noticed that the crackling and slow down always started after I got off for a bit and windows turned off the screen and I moved my mouse around. My system would get really slow for a few seconds and then the problem i posted above would occur. If I set windows to never turn off my screen the issue is gone. Just have to remember to turn the screen off myself which I already did anyway.
