OEM or Build; AMD or intel?

Hey all. I am a huge gamer, youtubber, and streamer, however I have a budget of about $900 to make a system that can stream, render, and play games nearly at the same time.. and at a good quality. I've seen computers like the Dell i3847-6927BK with a monitor for around $700.. Slap in a SAPPHIRE R9 390, better RAM, and a new PSU and I'm good to go, right? But my question is would the i5 be good enough for what I'm doing? I've thought about building.. but the cheapest I can make it (even without a storage hard drive (has a 120 GB SSD for boot and select games)) is still $980.. Which is almost over the limit.... IN FACT.. IS the limit.

But my requirements are, again: Fast, reliable, over clockable, cost-effective, able to multitask with ease, able to render videos while recording, streaming, and gaming, and I NEED at least one monitor, but would prefer two.

ALSO: I would like to get the parts new, or lightly used.. so sadly no craigslist options there. Please help as soon as you can.. Thank you.

Well,
First off between AMD and Intel I would choose Intel.
The reason being is because AMD really confuses me (with the names) where Intel its either i3 i5 or i7.

But thats just me.
As far as I'm aware of I don't think you can overclock OEM machines unless you replace the motherboard and cpu.
Which leads to build,
When building your computer you get a lot more for your money, but some people choose OEM over Build because they don't know/ have the confidence to do it. Although you can get someone to build it for you.

Thanks for the quick reply. Sadly I don't care what team I bat for with the processors.. Currently I like being an AMD nut hugger because I save some money and when it comes to OC, it's almost out of the box able to be OC'ed.. I have no problem building computers as I'm A+ Certification ready and learned the stuff in my High School, so when it comes to the build.. that's no problem.. I have the build laid out on my newEgg wishlist located here. It also has a Cooler Master case from ebay and the AMD FX-8350 Black from amazon (saves me a few bucks that way). Can you see any ways that I can cut corners and save even more so I can afford a monitor (1080 preferred..)

Hello again,
That is a very good build going on,
But don't forget about the motherboard and case.

Since I'm in Australia that build is considered cheap, but one way you could decrease the price a little is to downgrade the 850w psu to a 750w - 800w one.

Hope this helps :)

Thanks again! As for the mobo and case, I have the... Corsair Carbide Series 330R Blackout Edition chosen and the ASRock 990FX Extreme9 Mobo on my ebay watch list because it's a few bucks cheaper... (Not much at all, but I'm a poor college student). Alright. Do you have a PSU you'd recommend? I'd still prefer 80+ Bronze if possible.

For gaming and streaming, either AMD or Intel will work well. I'd recommend an AMD FX 8 core or an Intel i5 k series. OFC for overclocking either get a quality motherboard, PSU and cooling.

You can use either NVidia or AMD GPUs to stream and capture high quality video in real time. The FPS impact using the GPU for MP4 real-time encoding like this is very low, usually 1-3 FPS. The nVidia tech Shadow Play, AMD is Raptr DVR.

For rendering, if you use Adobe products they are Intel optimized. You'll do better with an i7. But MP4 encoding with something like Handbrake is very close between AMD or Intel.

I haven't used Intel in a while. But I can give you an idea what to expect performance wise while capturing on an AMD system with these two example videos:

2 samples from PC I built for a friend with FX 6350 @ 4.6GHz

Guild Wars 2 is CPU bound but will use 4-6 CPU cores. Valley is single-core bound yet still runs well with high details when capturing. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the reply. Again, I have no problem building my own machine, and would need about 32-64GB of RAM in said machine for gaming, video editing, and streaming all simultaneously.

Perfect!
Good luck on your build :)

The PSU I would recomend is the
Evga Supernova 750w g2
I myself use it, and its a really good psu.
Because its semi modular it saved my a** a couple times hehe.

Or perhaps a Corsair series or Seasonic.

Thanks! And.. Sorry for just making the post longer.. But again.. thank you.

Anytime :)
