What exactly does OEM mean? I know that it means out of box but does that mean it's just the drive and no software? Should I buy a Plextor like this since I already have Nero or is the Plextor software what makes the drives the best?

Nero is a great program, it's fine. OEM means "original equipment manufacturer." Usually, there isn't any software coming with an OEM bare drive.

I got both an oem and retail kit. the benefit of the european retail kit I got from www.jazztechnology.com was getting nero 5.5, but it lacked a manual for the drive.

The OEM had the manuals and easy cd creator which is total garbage.

I would get the oem european kit if possible or just get the retail kit from jazztechnology.com (it is the european kit, trust me) and then get the american rebate with it.
