OEM or Retail?

I looking to buy a AMD 64 3500 90nm from ZZF but am not sure whether to get the OEM or retail. Are there any problems with buying OEM over retail such as wrong or damaged chip or even fake?

The included fan alone makes retail more than worthwhile.
I've never had an Amd chip fail of it's own accord, but I always buy the extra warranty anyhow.

If the price difference is insignificant, I'd choose retail's (won't have to buy a separate HSF and get better warranty).

The retail versio is definitely worth the extra $10 for the warranty and the HSF.

The extended warranty is practically useless, since I've never seen a CPU dying unless it has been physically damaged (for physical damage your gurantee gets void anyway, no matter retail or OEM)

I think it's worth paying little extra for the retail package, because usually the bundled HSF is worth more than the extra money you pay.

I'm just worry about the OEM being manhandled and greased up during the packaging phase. Been checking a lot of site and the difference is usually 15-20 bucks, looks like I'll go down the retail package path.

Also, now I'm hearing about the new venice core that supports SSE3. Anyone know when it'll be available and should I wait for it?

I have a OEM AXP 1700+ looks brand new. One problem its dead. No burned core or bad pins. The only CPU I have ever had die. Going back to my 286's.

If you didn't overvolt the CPU, then you were just very very unlucky.
