OEM Setup had SSD + HDD Single Partition how can I replicate this.

I have Gigabyte u24 i5 laptop that has an SSD + HDD the original windows 8 install had a single C: drive partition spanning both drives. Due to a problem with Window 8 I installed Windows 7 but cannot duplicate this single partition. Is this an OEM thing or a windows 8 thing. I would like to set this up again is this possible? and if so how?

I have read the other threads here saying it is not possible but it is how it was done originally on this laptop and my other laptop, a Gigabyte P34G is set up the same way.

Most likely the SSD was set up as a caching drive. Go into the Intel RAID config menu (should be there when entering the BIOS) and follow your nose.
