OEM /Upgrade OS Product key issue

I installed XP upgrade to WIN 98 on dual boot computer. Then XP crashed. The
only way I could repair it was to use my OEM XP full version CD. Now I don't
have the Upgrade Key on this computer. How do I get the correct key back so
that I can re-activate this OS?

You need to locate the key that came with that CD.

If you are telling the truth that you did buy it , then
call microsoft or the place where you did purchase it
from ... but if you copy it from someone , no one is
going to give keys out

What exactly happened when you tried using your Windows XP Upgrade CD to do
the repair?

I should have mentioned that an XP Upgrade CD Key is not compatible with an
OEM CD so if you used an OEM version of XP to install overtop of your
current setup you won't be able to use an Upgrade CD with it.

Product Keys are bound to the specific type and language of
CD/license (OEM, Volume, retail, full, or Upgrade) with which they are
purchased. For example, a WinXP Home OEM Product Key won't work for
any retail version of WinXP Home, or for any version of WinXP Pro, and
vice versa. An upgrade's Product Key cannot be used with a full
version CD, and vice versa. An OEM Product Key will not work to
install a retail product. An Italian Product Key will not work with
an English CD. Bottom line: Product Keys and CD types cannot be
mixed & matched.

You need to use your _legitimate_ l retail Upgrade copy of WinXP
Pro to perform a repair (a.k.a. in-place upgrade) installation, using
its CD and Product Key.
