OEM vs Full on a VM

An OEM version IS a full version. Unlike previous versions of Windows, there are no "OEM" and "retail" versions, there is only Windows 8, Windows 8 Pro, and Windows 8 Enterprise. Windows 8 Pro and Enterprise are essentially the same thing, and include some extra functionality that plain old Windows 8 doesn't have, such as BitLocker drive encryption, the ability to have another PC log in remotely using Remote Access, and the ability to join a Microsoft Domain.

Any version of Windows 8 will work as a virtual machine. Even in previous versions of Windows, the terms "OEM" and "Retail" referred to the licensing, not whether they were "full" or "partial" versions of Windows. "OEM" meant that the license was tied to the original motherboard and could not be re-installed on another motherboard, while "retail" versions meant you could move the copy of Windows to other PCs/motherboards as long as it no longer ran on the previous motherboard/PC. Of course "Retail" licenses cost more than "OEM" licenses.

The only difference in functionality had to do with the Home versions vs. the Pro versions, although there were sometimes a few other versions out there (e.g., starter and basic), depending on the operating system.
