my iMac Hitachi drive is 'over-active.' It 'whirs' VERY frequently, even when there is no computer input. Is this indicative of a problem?

Thanks. The iMac/Apple drive test does not work on my computer. Apple said since it's 'obsolete,' I should take it in for analysis and possible repair. Do you know how to run any iMac diagnostics?

Turn on your iMac while holding the D key (or option-D) to see if you can get into the old Apple Hardware Test.
