Office 13 Programs Dont Open with 8.1-----Help!

I just bought an HP Envy Win 8.1 17" laptop . I installed Office 13 from DVD. Installed without a hitch. Only problem--none of the Office 13 (Word, Excel, etc.) programs will open. I click the app, and "the infamous spinning circle" appears for about 5 seconds, then nothing..no error message, etc. I THINK the laptop came with an "Offer to buy Office 15. However, when I installed Office 13, the "offer" app went away, I think!

Can you start Office from scratch without any problems? If so, startup office and open an Office file from inside the application and see if that works. If that doesn't work either It sounds like maybe during installation, office got corrupted somehow. You can always try and do a repair install or just completely uninstall office and reinstall it again and see if that helps.
