I am using an HP Elitebook x360 830 G6 with Windows 10 installed (Windows 10 Pro, 10.0.18363 Build 18363). I have MS Office 365 ProPlus installed.

I am printing to a Brother MFC-J5620DW.

I have the printer default set to portrait printing. When I print from Excel or Word I am choosing Portrait as the output.

When the document prints it is coming out in Landscape.

If I switch to Landscape the document prints in Portait but shrinks the image.

This is also happening in Adobe Acrobat pdf as well.

I have tried other PC's and am not having any issues with the printer.

Can you please suggest where I have to change settings or how to fix this?

Thanks!

Mike

First look in Excel and Word via "File" > "Print" >" Settings" - is the default orientation set to Landscape?

Next:

In the "Type here to search" box type "Printers and scanners"

Doing so should open a window herein you can find your printer and delve further into its' configuration settings.

Select your printer and then click "Manage".

No need to immediately change anything. Just explore and click "cancel" when you need to close a window or otherwise back out.

I did these things and still get the same result.

Let me know if there are other tips and I REALLY appreciate your help!!!

Any orientation issues with other apps beyond Excel and Word?

Access the printer's configuration/test pages.

Print the pages out to see how the printer is configured from the printer's POV.

How is the printer connected: USB, network (wired or wireless)?

Some things to try:

1) Run Windows built in troubleshooters

2) Reinstall the printer driver on the laptop

3) On the laptop run "sfc /scannow" via the command prompt.
