Funny, the recommended cards are GTX 660 and HD 7870 but recommended VRAM is 3GB haha.

i ran the game ultra settings 1080p, and it never went above 1750mb vram. Of course if you want to max out everything 3gb is a good idea, but your going to need a really powerful gpu to max everything and have it run at 60fps, probably dual high end gpu's. And the final game could also have higher res textures needing more vram.. For me, the BETA game doesnt feel smooth if not running at 60fps, so ultra preset is a no-go right now, just trimmed back on AA and mesh detail, but final game and a full driver release will probably put things back on track.

Actually a 7950 or maybe even a 7870 can handle this game. No need to CrossFire/SLI. Especially with any card above the 7870. I think if you want to Max out everything(Except AA) at 1080p get a 7950. It meets all the requirements and goes above and beyond with them ;)
Oh and by the way, I hope I haven't said this yet on this topic, but guys, the GPU isn't the only one that you should focus on. Remember that little square you put directly into the Mother Board, the CPU? Yeah well if you don't have a good CPU then I wouldn't even bother asking if my GPU will work well on this game. I'm sure you will need no less than a i5 3570. So I upgraded to the i5 4570 ;)

No, it does not, gtx 690 is way better than 660, so you will have no problem!

I'm playng bf 4 Beta on my acer predator intel core i five (it's a quad core) 8 gb ram ddr 5 with a simple gt 545 1.5 gb dedicated and up to 4. and i can run a t 30 fps with no problem at 1280x1024 with almost at ultra setting, only shaders and lighting effects are at high and not at ultra. AA at 4x an post AA at low. An this is the beta that you know is having a lot of issues.
