If I want to update the Windows Defender virus database offline on a computer that does not have Internet access, should I update it from this website https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/wdsi/defenderupdates and select "Microsoft Defender Antivirus for Windows 11, Windows 10, Windows 8.1, and Windows Server" and the "64-bit" version of Windows that I use and download the mpam-fe.exe file and update the Windows Defender virus database from it? Is it enough to double-click on the mpam-fe.exe file and will the Windows Defender virus database be updated? There are files inside mpam-fe.exe
mpasbase.vdm
mpasdlta.vdm
mpavbase.vdm
mpavdlta.vdm
mpengine.dll
MpSigStub.exe
Windows 10 Pro 22H2 64 bit PL

Welcome to the forums.
I've been experimenting with offline updates the last few weeks.

Yes, you are doing it right. Here's what I do:
- Open Defender, click on Virus & threat protection
- Near the bottom, you will see the Last Update: Date + Time
- Write that down if you like.
- Close Defender out.
- Run the mpam-fe.exe file. If you hold the mouse over the folder where you ran it from, you can see the "hourglass" cursor meaning it's busy / running.
- Give it a minute or two.
- Re-open Defender again and you will see that the date has been changed / updated.
