Hi,

I have Windows 11 Pro, in the Video Playback page in Windows Settings when I play that windows demo video shown at the top of a guy with a skateboard near the sea its not smooth. Same problem happens with video files offline however YouTube online streaming vids play fine.

Gaming on my Nvidia 3060 Ti is fine too.

I ran Windows Troubleshoot, the results are:

Thank you,

try vlc player
try media player classic

What hardware are you using?
motherboard, CPU, RAM

Is there a known issue with the default windows media player and do I have the classic version of this?

Here my specs:

- MSi A520M-A PRO Motherboard

- Gamemax RPG Rampage 700W PSU 80 Plus Bronze.

- AMD Ryzen 5 5600 Processor with its stock Fan Cooler.

- NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti Graphics

- 16GB of DDR4 RAM running at 3200MHz

- 1TB M2 NVME SSD

- Windows 11 Pro

Do I need to install a Codec or something?

did you try a different player yet?

mpc mediaplayer classic is an old but updated version of older windows versions. it can playback nearly all smooth without a need of codecs installation, similar to vlc player.

other than that, update all drivers, amd chipset and nvidia driver
update the motherboard's bios

Hi yes do I already have this classic version on my system called windows media player legacy?

Hi coming back here I need help. I tried playing a video file but it wont and instead took me to the Microsoft store to purchase HEVC Video Extensions App for 79p or under a $dollar. What's the best free alternative to get it working? Cheers,
