I have a marantz sr6010 that is set at 8ohm per channel. It has the ability to set speakers at 6 or 4ohm. My 5.1.2 setup consists of 5xDali fazon satellite speakers rated at 6ohm and 2x Dali phantom ceiling speakers rated at 8ohm. What would be the best ohm setting for the speakers, 6 or 8. What are the advantages/disadvantages of setting them at 6 or 8. Many thanks!

Solution
If you could set to 6 or 8 ohm per speaker, that would be optimal since it will adjust for the impedance mis-match. If you can only set 6 ohm for all speakers that is probably best however the higher ohms of the ceiling speakers will cause it to be slightly lower volume than the others and you will have to adjust to a specific volume level.

The variance will be higher at higher volume levels so may need constant adjusting, if that is the case just get speakers with matching impedance all-around.

Given the mix of 5 x 6 Ohm surround speakers & 2 x 8 Ohm ceiling speakers, what would the best Ohm setting on the AV receiver be? 6 or 8 Ohm? Would there be any disadvantages of setting the receiver at either 6 or 8 Ohms with this speaker setup?
