.....pondering....

There is something that I'm trying to put my finger on about 2k4 that I'm
bothered with. It has something to do with the game play, but am not sure.

There is something about the game that just doesn't seem (IMO) to move as
"smoothly" as UT99. But that's not the right word for it.

I'm also wonderring if I am seeing skins that are too complicated or
something. Perhaps I need to pare down the detail all around and that'll
help.

Does anyone have any similar observations?

Just to be clear: I'm not talking about choppyness due to too high a
resolution and exceeding the system's ability to render. It's not rendering
"smoothness" that I'm concerned about it's game play.

My system is a 3.0 Mhz (with HT) 800 mhz fsb, some no thrills card: nvidia
geforce FX 5200.

One of the things I filter for as well are maps that allow an always-on
translocator. It's just too hard to relearn :) Bu t that is not one of my
complaints really---that's clearly in the category of "just gotta get used
to it", not of "game seems not as good".
