Im staying at a hotel for 2 weeks and in a crappy city, so I brought my desktop. I check in, get settled, and plug in my pc to the socket, about to turn it on, move the pc a bit, and whammo, a bunch of sparks and loud crackles go off at the powersupply socket. Then the freakin power goes out in the room. I start swearing, but an hour later, in a new room, i decide to plug it all in again but just to see if the pc is fried or not, i plug it in, turn it on, everything seems fine, BUT I DONT plug the monitor in, i let it sit for 10 min to see if the thing does anything, then I turn it off plug in everything, mouse monitor, etc. Turn it on and the image is very faint, pretty much only see the rough edges of text as its booting, the win logon screen is only showing the two user account icons, and shadings of someother stuff, like the windows logo. Its like it is a negative with no bright spots. Totally unusable. Its not the monitor as i can use the monitors menus and they look fine. I reconnected all the wires, including reseating the vid card, turned off of course unplugged. Nothing seems to fix, so I want to know what is fried.\
I can see basic little things in windows, meaning some of the vid card is still working, or is it the mobo? It posts fine and seems to work a ok otherwise, but not sure.
Anyone care to think how i could get the hotel to take the responsibility? I mean i plugged it in and it all just happened.
