I want to buy an external hard drive, but I need to know how big, ie 2TB, 4TB, etc. I have normal files, music, no gaming etc. What I do have is a lot of pics and music, very little video.
If you've got no movies or games, you're going to be very hard pressed to go over a few hundred GB unless you're storing lots of very high definition photos in raw formats.
You almost certainly won't need anything over 1TB.

I have to agree with the above poster. A 4 TB hard drive is HUGE. If your planning on adding a ton of pics in the future then maybe 4TB is the way to go for long term planning, but 1TB should do what your looking for. I'm a gamer and I have a 2TB hard drive. It's getting full now because of all my games, but i've had it 3+ years and it took all those years to fill it.
on a side note, I would check out newegg.com, if you haven't already, for some good black Friday deals.
