Ok to run cpu at 100% freq 24/7?

Just wondering If there are any problems or benefits to running my 6700k at 100% frequency all the time? (high performance mode in power options)
Also should I have c states enabled or disabled for my oc? z170 deluxe mb

Only thing to consider is the temperature,if it is staying under that level of temperature,all is probably going to be normal.

Your overall electricity bill will be high as well.
Might I know why you plan to run it at 100% all the time?

Idle temps will be higher and you're also using more power. As for performance, it makes no difference.

Yes it`s fine to run the system at 100% 24/7 if you wish.

Though I would make sure I had a good after market cpu cooler fitted to the 6700K you have.
And if you can add a few fans if you have not already done so to the system case.

As for the C or P states setting in the bios for the cpu, you will only, that is if the system is going to be using or running software that will utilize all of the cpu cores available 100% of the time. Can disable it.

Then do your overclocking as you wish.

Running a CPU at 100% load for years should not be a problem as long as you keep the CPU and VRM reasonably cool, as long as you do not mind the increased power and cooling costs, along with possibly increased noise.

If you are overclocking, disabling C-states is often necessary to improve stability.

There aren't any real benefits unless you run programs super sensitive to latency (you would already know if you did) and it will cause the CPU to make more heat and use power for no reason.

For c-states OC with them off. Then you can try to turn them back on 50/50 shot whether you will have to turn them back off or not.
Personally learn to OC with adaptive voltage and all those good things. It lets the CPU idle at stock power usage and then ramp both power and frequency as needed.

I just assumed that having the frequency always at 100% would make my pc snappier in general..ssds? I have a noctua nhd15s so my temps are not an issue really..also have good case airflow.
Is it even worth trying to have the cstates enabled with an oc? Or just turn them off to begin with? Sorry I honestly don't understand them that we'll and am new to OC. Do they control the dropping off the cpu frequency when its in idle?

No modern CPU's ramp up and down so fast that it doesn't matter.

C-states turn certain internal clocks off and reduce CPU voltage and other things when at idle "putting the CPU to sleep" basically. The problem is with OC is that it can cause it not to wake/sleep properly and cause instability. So you should always find the OC with it disabled. After that you can try to turn it on and see if it works if it doesn't just turn them back off. If it does yay! or don't worry at all and just leave them off.
