okay, i give up, how to post an attachment

This is a none solution. When I'm on tomshardware i don't want to be clicking on links that go outside tomhardware. how do i know they are safe? The suggested solution tells you to ignore some very basic security safe procedures.

The alternative is to trust whomever you're clicking on the attachment from, which, is also telling you to ignore some very basic security procedures. Either way, you're putting your trust in whomever you're clicking on either A) the attached file or B) the hyperlink from for it to not be harmful.

Don't agree at all. I would expect tomshardware to be able have better control on what's on their site. At a minimum,If users complained about a post, thw could remove the post. wouldn't expect google drive or dropbox to be able to provide that.

Absolutely a mod can remove it, and absolutely they have reign over this site; but by the same token the mod could remove the harmful hyperlink, yes? Either way, the mods will be able to control what is on the site whether it be a physical attachment or a hyperlink.

Edit:: And I would go so far as to say that a harmful hyperlink is much easier to spot than a harmful file, imo.
