Okay so i just got a brand new Asus Geforce GTX 970 and noticed it has an 8 pin connector. Unfortunately, my psu doesnt have another 8 pin connector. Is it fine for me to use a 6 pin on it? Because i plugged a 6 pin and it was running just fine. Is it bad to run it off of 6 pins? Is it bad if i just run a small game that doest need much for run like fallout 3?

Chaldo and Suztera, it's very interesting because I just got a MSI GTX 970 Gamer card yesterday. I presumed that it only needed two 6 pin power connectors, because most of them are listed as only need just that. My system only has two 6 pin power connectors. But the MSI gamer version has one 6 and one 8. What's also interesting is that the MSI card came with an 8 pin to 6 pin adapter, which suggests to me that they felt it was okay to use it on this card. Just my two cents...

With the adapter you could get away but it's not ideal. Just simply plugging in the 6 pin into the 8 pin, bad idea.
