Okay, so I've been playing the T3 demo...

Anyone wanna buy a slightly used Radeon 9700 Pro (128MB RAM) video card?

<sigh>

Are you sure it's the Video card that is the problem?

It's on the list of supported cards... I can also add, although that doesn't
help you, that it works great on a Matrox Parhelia 128

SUPPORTED GRAPHICS CHIPSETS:
ATI RADEON 8500
ATI RADEON 9 SERIES (9000,9200,9600,9700,9800)
NVIDIA GEFORCE 3TI SERIES
NVIDIA GEFORCE 4TI SERIES
NVIDIA GEFORCE FX SERIES
NVIDIA GEFORCE 6 SERIES
GRAPHICS CARD MUST SUPPORT PIXEL SHADER 1.1!

UNSUPPORTED GRAPHICS CHIPSETS:
NVIDIA GEFORCE 4MX (460, 440 & 420)
NVIDIA GEFORCE 4 GO
NVIDIA QUADRO FX GO
NVIDIA GEFORCE NFORCE2 & NFORCE3

Roger that, it runs all right, it's just that the framerates aren't as
obsessively high as I'd prefer. T: DS really gives the card a workout.
While framerates are usually around 40-ish and occasionally venture
into the 60's, some scenes, for reasons obscure to me, drop it down to
the low 20's or even as low as 17.

I haven't messed around with the visual options all that much. At
present, I have everything turned to max except resampling, and 1024x768
resolution.

What is "bloom" supposed to do, btw? I've turned it on and off with no
obvious effect, except that having it off boosts the framerate.

Addendum to the previous: I have 1 GB of RAM, and an Athlon XP 3200+, so
yeah, I kinda wish I'd sprung for that Radeon 9800 Pro with 256MB RAM. 😉

A 9800 pro with 256MB of ram isn't going to run it much faster than you're
imagining. 9700 is a very capable card for this game. I have a Geforce
4200 Ti w/128MB and it's probably doing ~15-25fps with most effects at max.
There aren't any games currently out that would get close to using 256MB of
GPU ram. Don't waste your money on 256MB cards right not because games that
will push that level of RAM won't be around until next year anyway. By that
time there will be at least 1 more generation of GPU out and all the 9800's,
5950's etc will be in the $150-$200 range.

I suggest you turn down some of the effects...

Bloom adds the halo effect to some of the lighting.

It affects the light glow, I think.

I know on DE2 it made everything look cartoony. With it off, the
light sources looked a lot sharper.
