His im looking on ebay for a Intel core 2 duo laptop from my dad, low price and free shipping, could anyone link any links or give an idea of a Intel core 2 duo that supports at least 4gb ram, I will be putting my own ddr2 4gb in there anyway but it needs to be a core 2 duo and chea thanks, he only does email, ebay and facebook

All web-based apps your father uses. Have you considered a late model chrome book or Atom based Windows PC. They can be had new for around $150-200

needs some extra ram which i have load of, and a hdd which i have a pile of... think this will be fine. Ill just need to buy a Power cable

Looks like an okay choice for the money. Not sure I would invest in an 8 year old machine, even for e-mail, but with a decent drive and some ram it should run most OS, possibly not Windows 10 though.

Jeez wow its been a long time since I last visited here! meant to update us all with what we went with. In the end found an Asus X553M which is brilliant!, I was very impressed tbf cause I was like "Now hes got the best spec laptop of the family" and all that, 4gb ram, Windows 10, Intel Pentium something or another that was near core i3 stuff. And then I got a HP Pavilian G6 off both my mom and dad with Core i5, 8gb ram, of course I was thankful and all that, but found it funny that I was going on about my dad going to have the best laptop of us all for now and that same day - 25th december I ended up with a higher spec one still lol.
