Hello,
I built a new Gaming HTPC and put my old HTPC HDD's in the new build.
1 of them is a Segate 3TB which was separated in 2TB & 746GB on my old HTPC

My problem is that the HDD is showing the same 2TB & 746GB but the 746GB is unallocated so I can't view of the files/movies i had on there.
What can i do to fix this so I can see my files/movies.

Thank you for your input!:bounce:

I am using Windows 7 and my MB is a ASRock Z97M Pro4

Solution

Just Right Click on My Computer -> Manage -> Disk Management
Then Right Click on Unallocated Space -> then add new partition
Mention Drive Size as per your Requirement
if u want 500 GB partition Then set value 512000

@Aniket25: Won't this effectively delete the data already present on this 746GB partition that was already there? I believe that creating a new partition will delete the old unrecoqnized partition - including data.

Thank you I will give this a try and let you know how it goes.

Why don't PC's detect the whole HDD and show it as a 3TB? I was under the impression newer MB's do detect it.

If I bought a 5TB would you have all separate drivers (C:, D:, E: etc) because the PC only detects 2TB
thanks
