[SOLVED] Old Android tablet

Hi. I have an old samsung tablet Tab-e
It runs on Android 4.4.4

Can't get emails on both aol and google mail. Tried setting this up again by deleting them. Has this got anything to do with a change in securety levels with emails. I remember a year ago AOL banging on about third party systems and this included thunderbird.

Hate to bin the tablet and get a new one!

Tab E Came out with Android 5.1.1 and could be updated to 7.1, why would it have 4.4.4 🤔 That version is completely unsupported and all major google apps like Gmail won't work. The other issue with the table is the amount of RAM, any update will quickly limit what you can do.

My Tab E bought in 2014 DEFINATLY is 4.4.4

So if what youare saying, and I suspect this is that I have to throw away my tablet. I don't realy mind as I have had this a VERY long time.

What is the minimum version can use? Argos have

What price range are you looking at and what size? 8 inches seems to be the best for a balance of usability and size.

10-inch tablet with less than 1080p.. they are just too grainy
8-inch tablets with less than 900p.. same reason
Anything lower than Android 6.0 Marshmallow "App updates are troublesome"

I don't rely on tablets all the time. I am aPC person. Not even a mobile person prefer landline when at hume BUT.


I would like rreliability easy access to the internet and emails. My question is what would be the earleast android version for the emails and a resonable memory?

I live in the UK and this is what I have found on Argos

Does this mean max is 32 and 64?

ALSO can I add extra ram? 4G would be nicer.

Don't forget only use these casualy.

Tablets shipped with Android 4.x usually have 1GB RAM max while Android 5.x requires 2GB RAM to run properly. If you upgrade your tablet from 4.x to 5.x with just 1GB RAM, using it would be painful.

No, what was saying was, if I bought the Alba 10.1 Inch 32GB HD Tablet, could I uprgade the memory lika PC? It has 2G. This could be im[proved to 4G.

Also as before what is the minimum android to support modern emails. This one is Anrdoid 10.

No you cant upgrade ram in Tablets and that Alba is rather slow with the outdated OS and limited Ram.

If you go a size down to 8" tablets, for these money (or lisgthly more) you can have Samsung Tab A model. At least you'll have guaranteed updates. With that Alba, you won' know whether they will be there tomorrow (as is the case with 90% of cheap tablets).
