AIA if this has been asked before,

I have been given a BH6 which has a slot 1 350 mmx sitting in it.

I have d/l the latest bios to make it FC P3 800 compatible.anyone know
where in the UK I can get a slot 1 to 370 converter as the board itself is
still in perfect working order and I have a P3 800 FC sitting here doing
nothing.

Regards,

Ebay is your best bet. There is a new one on ebay here:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3475577050&category=4614

Best also check that CPU of yours...most of the PIII 800's are 133FSB. The
BH6 only fully supports 100MHz FSB chips. You can also run any PIII up to
1GHz (100 FSB) and with a Tualatin adapter you can go to 1.4GHz.

If you leave me your coded email addy here, I should be able to mail you one
I have at the bottom of a box. Worked for me in the BH6 until the board
died.

Are you saying a BH6 with the latest ABIT BIOS can run a PIII 1GHz without
any additional modifications?

Archived from groups: alt.comp.periphs.mainboard.abit (More info?)

If memory serves me correctly -- and that's a big question -- the BH6 only
runs PPGA cpus without an adapter. It needs a Coppermine adapter or a
hacked PPGA adapter to run Cu-mine and it needs a Tully adapter or a hacked
Cu-mine adapter to run a Tully cpu. This largely involves pin-out and
voltage issues and not MHz per se.

So find out -- I can't remember -- if the PIII 1 Gz is whatever. It's
probably Cu-mine.

That said, you then need to address FSB. If the BH6 is the first version,
it doesn't have 133 friendly AGP and PCI multipliers. This makes use of a
133 FSB cpu problematical. The second supposedly has more friendly
multipliers.

I use to run a 100fsb P3 1Ghz on my old BH6 with no problems.

Yes, the 100FSB PIII1000 will run no problem, as will a Copermine Celeron up
to 1.1GHz

Where's the best place to buy a 100FSB PIII1000 and how much does it cost?
Will it make a real difference from my current PIII500?

Yes. Even though there isn't official support for it, it can be done.

It should make a noticeable difference. The only place your likely to find a
100FSB PIII1000 is ebay....but they are quite rare so they bring a high
price. What you could also consider is one of the newer FCPGA2 'Tualatin'
Celerons which go up to 1.4GHz plus a Slot-T adapter from
www.upgradeware.com

As long as it works who cares if it's 'new' or not????....after all the
board that it's going into is at least 6 years old. Even if you did get a
'new' one it would in reality be years old because they stopped making these
things ages ago.

Did you bid on the 'new' one on eBay that I gave you a link to???? Here's
another link
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3477565556&category=4614
and there are more if you do a search.

Personally I'd take the offer of the free one.
