[SOLVED] Old Board New Graphics Card

Hi Folks.

Just wanted to double check, with those more knowledgeable than I, before taking a £500+ plunge.

The Question is:

Will my old Asus Maximus Formula VI board, from all the way back in 2014 be able to support an nVidia RTX 2070 gfx card?

And will I need to upgrade my 750 watt PSU...?

Yes. Whether it's a great pairing with the CPU or not is another question, but the motherboard is not going to be a limiting factor.

That depends. What "750 watt PSU" do you have?


For the CPU + GPU pairing.... a 4770K is definitely showing it's age. What resolution do you play at? What games do you play? It should pair well enough if all you're doing is gaming, but there's better pairings (although will obviously cost more money)

I wouldn't mind being able to run Cyberpunk when it finally arrives but also Adobe Creative Suite (mainly After Effects) & Cinema 4D for work, during lockdown...

If you think I should upgrade CPU then what do you reckon would bring it nearer parity with GPU.

Cash is limited for a completely new system right now.
