Old chipset : New bios?

Wondering if there is any need to go looking for a BIOS flash for my 440LX chipset. Its totally stable, but if I can improve the speed at all, I'd have a go.

No, it is unlikely that new BIOS will give you aditional performance. You may be able to get aditional performance from your current system if it has an overclockable bus. Several manufacturers made higher bus speeds, such as 75 and 83MHz, available, which would increase the performance of EVERY part on your system.

I'm running @ 66MHz

The options are: 68.? can't remember, 75 and 83.

I tried 68. It worked, but at what difference??

I tried 83, it gave me the no beep no nothing scenario.

I had to reset my BIOS to get back up. LOL

My first over-clock went well!!!

I would try 75MHz, the biggest improvements come from increasing memory bandwidth and processor bus bandwidth. A 13% increase there is far more noticeable than in most other places.
