Question Old Compaq nx9110 turns off too soon

Hello friends,

I have this old laptop that I am trying to fix just for hardware practice.
The fans and vents are clean and working.
I switch it on, the lights go on just for a very few seconds and then the laptop goes off.
Could it be a short-circuit of some component?
Any ideas?

Was it known to work before you got it? If not, then it's possible that there was something wrong with the board, the ram, the drive or even an electrical component on the board. You might want to remove the battery from the laptop and try working with the power from the wall. Prior to connecting to the wall(via the power brick) press and hold down the power button(with the battery and power brick disconnected) for 30 seconds. Then try powering up with the power brick.

Was the laptop specs modified?

I don't think the laptop has been modified, it does not look like it.
I followed your instructions and now the laptop goes on and stays on but I no longer get the HP logo on the screen.

Sorry, the RAM had not fitted well into the slot. Now everythinbg is fine and the laptop works. Thank you very much and best reagrds
