Hi,

I have an old computer that I bought 7 years ago and I used Arctic Freezer 13 as my old CPU i5 2400 (1155 socket) cooler.

I want to buy an intel i5 8500 (1151 socket).

https://www.arctic.ac/worldwide_en/freezer-13.html

in the product site I see that it is compatible with the new socket (1151) and the old (1155).

but I am not sure that my old product will be compatible so I am asking: will my old cooler be compatible with the new CPU or I need to buy a new one?

Thanks,
Danos

the die size is important yes, but more important is what is the amount of TDP a cpu produced, versus the TDP the heatsink can handle.

for example a EVO 212 has a TDP of 150W (reported by manufacturer) and should hand die form factor and what an 8700K TDP produced.
but if you overclock that cpu you will quickly realize that on paper number are not what reality are.

will your artic 13 handle your 8500, it will fit and likely will handle it
over clockers web site is a good source of information on the subject has they have tested it
