For my car, ive got an older notebook PII 233 system Im wanting to use. Im looking for a processor upgrade and this system uses MMC-1 processors. Im looking at PII vs. celeron in this speed range. I remember PII had 512 L2 cache and celeron 128k, but how much of an effect did it have a those speeds?

For example, what would be better: PII 300 or Celeron 333?

Please no responses of "no" or "neither" =)

The Celeron 333 most likely because it had full speed cache (PII had half-speed cache). But wait!

I'm fairly certain there were BX chipset MMC-1's. So you might find an even faster CPU!

apparently there are speeds up to 450, but i went looking on ebay and the prices are as follows

333 Celeron $25
300 PII $25
400 PII $80
450 PII $150

Thought those higher PIIs were downright outrageous

I'd probably go with the Celeron 333.
