Old G5 Heatsink

The point of this post is just for general discussion. I took apart an old Mac Power G5 last night after it was given to me by a co-worker who no longer wanted it taking up space in their house. I have to say, the default heat sink that they had on that processor left me somewhat taken aback.

Does anyone know how efficient these were compared to what we use now?

It's actually not. It had small fans along the heatsink, but they attached to a metal panel within the case directly next to the heatsink. It was pretty clear that they were designed specially for it.
