OLD GAME PROBLEM: Midnight Club 2 Stuck on "Saving"

Okay I feel really weird asking this, there really should be a forum or subreddit somewhere just for fixing old games... Anyway, I installed mc2 from the disc, applied the unnecessary windows 7 patch, tried compatibility mode for xp sp1-3, win2000.

The game runs super smooth but whenever it saves it doesn't advance to the next screen. It does actually save so I can alt-f4 and still have my progress but it just says saving forever. The music and physics don't stop and the game doesn't go unresponsive...

your should check the steam forums to see if they have any section for that game. if steam carries that game, will have a support forum for it

I don't have the steam version but I'll try the discussions there.
