I'm playing (rather trying to) play TaiPai on this computer. Running XP Home
with SP1. It worked just fine up till today. Now it suddenly tells me that it
can't run 16 bit programs! I tried to use the compatability wizard using
their default settings, but it still doesn't work. Can anyone help me with
this? It's frustrating because it has been working for about 10 days since I
put the computer together.
Thank you in advance.
Kathy

Hi Three Doves,

What's the exact error message? Does it specify a file name?

The exact message is: C:\Windows\System32\Autoexec.NT. The system file is
not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose
'Close' to terminate the application.
Like I said the goofy thing is it worked just fine for about 3 weeks. I even
did a system restore going back 2 days .... day before it quit working. The
only other software I put on here was SpyBot (spy ware remover).
The TaiPai game was just in a folder that I copy/pasted on to this computer.
I have no "set up" file persay.
Thank you so much for your help ... in advance!
lol
Respectfully,
Kathy

Hi Threedoves,

Good news! I found a new solution for that error months ago. 🙂

You can solve that problem by replacing the file:

1. Browse to C:\WINDOWS\repair
Right-Click and Copy the file named: autoexec.nt

2. Browse to C:\WINDOWS\System32
Right-Click in that window to Paste the file
(Answer yes if prompted to replace existing file)
