hello
I like to play older console games and would like to build a pc to play emulators from all nes to possibly ps2 it will use hyperspin for the front end and windows 7 for op it will be hooked up to a 40 inch led tv to play on instead of a monitor (hdmi) I have thought about a htpc but I am on a budget so the old games come first on my need to do list any suggestions for a build

Solution

Dunno really, it seems like it focuses on MAME and I have been running that on an old C2D with 512MB RAM, so I guess it will run fine. The main problem is the PS2 emulation, which requires a lot of horsepower /if you want to game at full hd and at max speed/.

Well, some of the games are really demanding. Most of the games will work just fine, but for some you'll need some speedhacks. Still, to get...
You'll be able to run those emulators on this build :

He'll be pushing his luck with pcsx2 but everything else will be fine :D
I can't complain with my i7 as pcsx2 runs great, so I guess I would recommend a decent i5 at least :D

I have been told the hyperspin is a bit demanding and would need at least a i3

But if you want to fish in the AMD pond, then 8350 seems to be the only way to go...
