Hi,
I have an old gaming PC that I now use for video editing (Adobe software) but it struggles with rendering etc in After Effects. I want to upgrade it so that it runs smoother, ideally being able to handle 4k video editing, but im not very knowledgeable when it comes to computer hardware etc.

Can anyone make any suggestions on how to upgrade this old rig on a budget of around 400 to 500 pounds? - Thanks in advance for you help.

Motherboard - MSI Z87 - G41 PC Mate
CPU - Intel Core i5 4670K 3.4 GHz
RAM - Crucial Ballistix Sport 16 GB
Power Supply - Cooler Master 500 ATX RS-500-PSAP-J3 500W PSU
GPU - AMD Radeon R9 200 Series 280X
Hard Disk Drive - 297 GB
System - Windows 7 home edition 64-bit

To be honest, there's not a lot you can do with that setup, short of adding an SSD. You could add a better gfx card, but imo it would be little gained for a fair bit of layout.

Perhaps a 2nd hand GTX 1060 6GB or better. A brand new one would be £250-£300, and a lot of money for little gain.

An SSD (e.g. Samsung 850 Evo or Crucial MX 500) would improve the overall system speed though, and would be far less outlay.
