Old gpu, new monitor, screen artifacts

Hi, just finished building my new pc, unfortunately I had to use an old r9 270x I had lying around while I wait for my 1080 to arrive later this month. I also recently bought a new monitor, an AOC ag241qg. These vertical lines appeared on screen:

I have no other components to test with. Out of experience, can anyone tell me if this is a problem caused by an old,
likely dying gpu, or a monitor from a bad batch?
Thanks

You can try turning down the factory overclock closer towards the reference base clock, often times a bad OC can cause this.

One question is your R9 270x overclocked? If it is turn down the over clock or turn it off. If not your GPU is dying and is almost dead theres not much you can do for it now. Just wait for your 1080.

It was at it's factory clock of 1400MHz on the memory, which is apparently higher than the original reference clock of around 1250MHz. It's been running the same clock for the past 4 years on another build.

Only did this a week after putting it inside my new build, worked near perfectly up until recently. Temps have always been stable, sub 70° C

Unfortunately not, I'll have to wait for the new card and update this thread in a couple of weeks it seems. Thanks for your time though!
