old hard drive new pc

i have an old hard drive with windows 7 oem. I would like to reuse the hard drive and i have windows 8.1.

Can i just plug in the hard drive to the new pc and install windows 8.1?

Or is there special steps I need?

should work the way you want. You may want to let your win 8.1 install format the drive, but other than that go ahead.

Keep loaded guns and blunt weapons away from computer as you see win 8.1 boot up first time.
