I finished building my brand new PC a few hours ago, I'm just finished installing all my drivers, windows updates, etc. onto my SSD... What I'm trying to do is transfer all the files and programs, whatever.. that I have on my old HDD onto my new HDD... How exactly am I supposed to do that? I only want certain programs and stuff, not windows... Any help for a newbie?

Solution
Files, no problem.
Programs need to be reinstalled. You can't just transfer them.

(ok, some may sort of work. But by FAR the easiest way is just to reinstall them)
just copy the files to the new drive? I don't really understand the problem. Since you aren't cloning the drive, than just copy the files you want from your old drive to the new one. If it's programs however, generally they have to be reinstalled because of the registry file, though if its large like a game and using steam app. you can just point to where the file is located and steam will take care of it.
