I have an old system (dell optiplex 3010) as a little budget gaming pc until I can upgrade to something better, I just now plugged in my old laptop hard drive (2.5 inch drive) and it shows up in the bios, yet when i boot into windows 10 and try to format it, nothing shows up in disk management. Some things to note, it came from a Lenovo laptop. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it, and also it already has a copy of windows 10 on it.

Solution
The drive may be a secure model and is waiting to be unlocked by the bios. Which exact model is it?
If you still have the old laptop you can unlock it and unencrypt it in that, if that is the cause.
