Old HDD Slowly Dying, Bought a New One, Now What?

A few weeks ago I started to have major problems with my HDD, I did my research and came to the conclusion that it was time for that drive to go. I just purchased a new HDD but now im lost. My old one still works, but won't for much longer, so what I need to know is how do I move all of my files to the new HDD, and boot off of it without running into bigger problems

That's what I don't know how to do, because how can I move the windows files with windows running? and if that gets messed up, couldnt it just ruin everything?

It's complicated, so move your files, media, and programs first, then you can move the OS.

are they the same size or the new one is bigger than the old one? then you can clone the drive
