After updating my trusty 7 rig, I find that my homegroup has been ruined. My "old" home group is still being advertised as ready to join, but when I try to connect (from the same box it was created on with W7) it ultimately says: Windows no longer detects a Homegroup on this network. To create a new homegroup, click OK, and then open HomeGroup from control panel. When I do that, I get right back to the same place. Ive googled the hell out of this problem, please help.

I have:

Deleted the Appdata under roaming
Started and stopped the homegroup and peer services.
Renamed my PC

I would create a totally new HomeGroup if I could, but I am not given the choice. My next step, once xBox users are off line, is to reset my Router.

If you did an "upgrade", I'd back up my data and do a clean install. You can download the media in ISO format here:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

And burn it to bootable, installable USB or DVD media using this tool. Make sure you back up any important files first and once you clean install you cannot simply "rollback" to windows 7, which apparently doesn't work for the majority of users anyhow, but you CAN reinstall your Windows 7 operating system so long as you still have a Windows 7 recovery partition or installation media for Windows 7.

Solution
That's easier said than done. I have an SSD and most of my programs are installed on my F drive. I'm worried that using a system image would just lead me to the same place I am now. All I really want to do is have a shared printer. I share it, but then can never access it from other computers on the network. When I try to browse the desktop, I'm asked for log in credentials, that I don't currently have set up.
