Old HP pavilion Floppy Drive/Case Question....

I have an old Hp Pavilion a6650f, that I brought back to life and installed windows 7. Its good enough to run an old CAD program i occasionally need and was planning on using to go through 3 old computers I need to restore some files off of.

How did they used to put floppy drives in these cases. I can put a 3.5" drive in the bay, I have a bunch lying around, but it leaves a large gap. I can't seem to find any specific 3.5" drives that were just built for these cases.

Does anyone remember if there was part for these case so the 3.5 drives looked they fit in?

A kind of bezel?

PS: I know I don't need to this, its more like a restoration project ;-)

You have to buy a 5.25" bay caddy.

when floppy drives were relevant cases had a bay specially made to fit 5.25" and 3.5" floppy drives. if this is just a restoration project then you should just scrap the case and try to find an old one on ebay that still has the bays for floppy drives

There is a 3.5" bay in the middle, in between a set of USB ports and the 5" drives. It was made for some kind of removable media drive system. Everything is there for floppy drives, maybe they just didn't ever offer a trim piece for the 3.5" bay. It was the media drive or nothing.
