I have windows 10 on it at the moment and its running not bad however i could see problems arising depending on what software they ask me to install starting next week....

So i was tempted with an old xp installation or even windows 7... what woudl you recommend ? its an emachine 525 3gb ram... old style hdd but no errors.

I will be doing training specifically for a new job which will involve virtual presentations etc..

Would i see a big difference goign back to 7 or even xp... is it safe to with a good antivirus/firewall ?

Although it is still possible to use XP and Windows 7, Microsoft no longer supports those operating systems i.e. releases patches/updates, which essentially leaves your machine vulnerable to security exploits.

I would always recommend using operating systems that are supported. Obviously, we do not know what software you are being asked to install, but unless it is a specialist bit of kit or quite old software, it could work on Windows 10 'out the box' or using backwards compatibility mode.
