I have a Gigabyte KT400 GA-7VAX motherboard,

for a slight review of it.
at the moment i'm sitting with a AMD athlonXP 1.7+ CPU in it...
what are my options for upgrading the CPU? (socketA)

are there any?

Without a doubt get this while its in stock. I thought we would never see these CPUs again. Great overclocker. I put one in my nephew's computer and it runs at 2400mhz 1.65v 36c-41c stock aluminum AMD HSF. They have unlocked multipliers so if your ram isn't up to speed you can still run at the high mhz. However, some boards don't see the high multipliers. There are ways around this but that's a whole other post in its self.
