This may be silly question but I just want to confirm
I have had this gigabyte b150m-dsh3 (https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-B150M-DS3H-rev-10#ov) for the las five years or so.
Haven't tried an m.2 yet and wanted to put one on it, checking in the web it says m.2 pci e/sata compatible.

But if the Mobo is likely 5 years old and I'm not sure how old nvme m.2 are, may that be an incompatibility between that could be that the Mobo just handle m.2 sata or a specific nvme?

Thanks in advance

"PCIe Gen3 x4 M.2 Connector "

So, any 3.0x4 NVMe drive such as Intel 660/665p, Samsung 970 EVO, WD Blue SN550 would work.

What drives are in it now?
What do you use this system for?
Thanks I just wanted to confirm because I've never updated the bios.
Right now I just have the 1t hdd WDblue, and I use this pc as my main system for photoshop/ai and not so heavy games.
