Hi, Im am not an electronics hero at all but still. . .
I have a small Makita 30 years old 6010SD drill of which the fixed 7,2V 2,0Ah battery has died.
Replacement will cost about $ 50,-. But ... there is place enough to improvise with some recharchable AA or AAA batteries.
Can I just link 6 AA or 12 AAA batteries together to replace the standard pack and use the old charger ?
If yes, which are the best batteries to use ?
Thanks, Peter

Solution
There are a lot of batteries with different chemistries and the chargers are not the same for each. It's best for you to replace it with the same type of battery.

If you attempt to recharge regular batteries you'll end up with battery acid all over the place most likely. It's possible you could do it with rechargeable but I don't know enough about the charger of it to know for sure. I guess you could keep taking them out individually and charging them in the wall for sure

These are the replacements:
https://www.batteries.com/products/1300-mah-replacement-power-tool-battery-for-makita-6010sd
But would this pack have the same ones inside ?
https://www.batteriesplus.com/battery/cordless-tool/makita/6010-7.2v-drill/ctl10271
For this little drill:
https://www.manualslib.com/manual/97985/Makita-6olosdw.html#product-6010SD

So it is a bit hard to unscrew the whole thing to recharge the batteries, Supahos

@ CountMike the 6 NiCad cells in the pack are ± 23 x 33 mm. What code/number should I look for ?

Thanks, Peter
