Old pc game list

Hello,
its an old ship game, you pick either the dutch, english, french or spanish i believe. Explore and attack natives for gold and jewels, then start plantations silver tobacco or a few others start towns, and get bigger boats any help wwould be great

The only three games I can think of are:

Colonization
Seven Cities of Gold
Sid Meier's Pirates!


My guess is that is it Pirates!

The first bit sounds like Pirates!, but I don't think you can start settlements in that game.

It sounds a lot like a game called 'Port Royal 1 and 2', incidentally the third one is about to be released. Good luck

I'm looking for what I think may be the same game, and my tired old brain is telling me the name is "1642". Unfortunately, the Internet seems to disagree with me as I cannot find anything... sigh
