old pc, old phone, usb tether, home wifi. should = smart tv if it has a pc monitor in. (db9 I think)

Get the wifi connection from the old phone output through usb to old pc and use the tv like a monitor. Right? Everbody else wants to burn through gigs of data rate with the cell phone company. I juzt want to connect to the home wifi. Help

Why don't you just use a $30 USB Wireless adapter and save yourself loads of headaches. Or spring another $20 and get a Roku. Don't make it impossibly difficult.

If I can understand you correctly - you want to use your "old" phone as USB WiFi adapter, correct? Then it depends on whether you can get an app for that 😉, and I doubt.

Why you just not get a WiFi adapter for your home PC? Or better yet, connect it with cable to your router?

I don't have an extra 20 bucks but I bet I could find an extra 100 every day if there's a way to do this. There has to be. All we need is one code writer or android dev guy to drop it on us. I BET IT IS SUPER EASY.

@RomRod - if that was "SUPER EASY", why not sit down and do it? All the software you need is free...
And the reason there is probably no such application is that it just does not make sense... I would not spend a day (or two) coding an application which does not make sense (unless to impress a nerdy girlfriend) 😉

Damn...I can afford that. Still, there is a guy or maybe a few hundred somewhere that knows a quick fix. He lays out the pcb design for one of the electronics companies. Or else he' an EE doing schematics.
I'm gonna table this one for now and go dig some change out of the couch.
